On May 7, Apple will hold its first event of the year. The Let Loose keynote is likely focused on new iPad models. Even though we have a good feeling about what Cupertino will unveil, a last-minute report by the reliable source, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, rounds up every bit of the event, including what will likely be left for later.
To start, the iPad Pro will be the focus of this a little longer than 30 minutes Apple event. The journalist doesn’t mention possible MagSafe support or connectivity improvements. Still, he says Cupertino is adding an OLED display – and there are several benefits for Apple to ditch miniLED for this technology –possibly the M4 chip, an improved design making it thinner, and the same 11-inch and 12.9-inch options.
The report also mentions the new iPad Air as a big part of this Apple Event. The leak shows that Cupertino is likely adding the M2 chip, but the main change expected for this tablet is a new 12.9-inch option. This will be the first time Apple releases a larger iPad model for a cheaper version. It was briefly reported to feature a miniLED display, but rumors say Apple will stick with an LCD panel for both versions.
While these iPad announcements might entice several users, a key part of this event is the new accessories, which might make these tablets even more useful. Over the past few months, there were a few leaks about what Apple could introduce during this event. Here’s what we know.

- Magic Keyboard improvements: The new OLED iPad Pro should get a more durable Magic Keyboard made of aluminum, and it will make the iPad look more laptop-like;
- Apple Pencil 3: iOS beta code suggests the new Apple Pencil could feature Find My, and squeeze gestures. Gurman also expects a haptic feedback function. This accessory should replace the 2018 Apple Pencil 2.
Interestingly, Gurman doesn’t mention a possible red iPhone 15, as some reports have suggested in the past few days. Whether or not Apple will unveil a mid-cycle iPhone color, it seems the company has even more planned for the iPad in the coming months, which includes:
- A cost-reduced version of the iPad 10. Apple wants to discontinue the ninth generation, but it needs to match the $329 price, but this won’t come until the end of the year
- A new iPad mini is in the works, but it’s not coming this Tuesday
- Apple might tease AI capabilities for the new iPad models, but a formal introduction is not expected before WWDC 2024 with iPadOS 18
- Gurman also leaked that Apple is nearing production of revamped low-end AirPods 4, but it will be left for another Apple event, most likely the iPhone’s
Finally, even if Apple introduces an M4 iPad Pro, this doesn’t mean the first batch of M4 Macs is coming anytime soon, as the journalist says it won’t arrive until later in 2024.
