The Tribeca Festival has unveiled i5w reunions, retrospectives and talks series for the 23rd edition unspooling in June including a Storyteller Series with Judd Apatow, Andy Cohen, Kieran Culkin, Kerry Washington, Laverne Cox, Jon Batiste, and Michael Stipe.
The Directors Series features Gus Van Sant in conversation with art dealer, filmmaker, and actor Vito Schnabel (Van Sant directed Schnabel in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Feud: Capote vs the Swans.)
The fest will celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Sopranos at the Beacon Theatre with the world premiere of Alex Gibney documenary Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos with a reunion of creator David Chase, EP Terence Winter, and stars Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Aida Turturro, Annabella Sciorra, Robert Iler, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Drea De Matteo, Steve Schirripa, Michele Chase, Kathrine Narducci, and Dominic Chianese.
Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, with rapper Nas, will talk Mean Streets on its 50th anniversary.
A conversation with Steven Spielberg will follow a screening of his 1974 theatrical debut, The Sugarland Express, also on its 50th anniversary. Kevin Bacon will be there for Footloose, now 40.
The lineup also includes Tod Browning’s 1927 silent film The Unknown starring Lon Chaney and Joan Crawford; Alfred Hitchcock’s remastered North By Northwest; a remastered 4k version of the animated musical based on Daft Punk’s album Discovery — Interstella 5555: The 5tory Of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem; and AlphaGo, a 2017 Tribeca selection, in honor of the film team’s 2024 premiere of follow-up The Thinking Game.
The festival “is proud to present an incredible roster of talent who have impacted the cultural zeitgeist in significant ways across disciplines,” said Meredith Mohr, Tribceca’s VP of Artist Relations at Tribeca.
The fest runs June 5-16 in NYC.
