As Lisa Vanderpump‘s event coordinators at Château Rosabelle, Vanderpump Villa stars Gabriella Sanon and Stephen Alsvig have brought yet another lovable dynamic duo to reality television. But they’re not always busy executing Vanderpump’s luxurious vision for the château guests. In fact, Alsvig has proven himself to be the “best roomie” when it comes to Sanon’s steamy tryst with co-star Andre Mitchell.
Sanon and Mitchell’s slow-burn romance is finally in full swing, and they don’t care who knows it. While Vanderpump wondered if the duo were aware that the world would see them “shagging” on camera, Sanon admitted that she has no regrets. “At the end of the day, this is what I signed up for, and it’s a part of life. Everyone does it every day. So let’s enjoy it. We’re in the south of France!” she told DECIDER ahead of Hulu‘s release of Episode 7, titled “A Divorce Party.”
Alsvig, for his part, shares a room with Sanon. And while he can typically drown out the sounds of her rendezvous with Mitchell with the help of some Ambien, there was “one time” when he forgot to take the sleeping pill. “I did my best to stay still,” he recalled, joking that viewers were “lucky” there wasn’t another gay or bisexual staff member because, in that case, he and Sanon “would have both been in the beds high-fiving from across the room.”
In a new interview with DECIDER, Alsvig also cleared up details surrounding his feud with château manager Eric Funderwhite, while Sanon opened up about Hannah Fouch and Telly Hall’s mean-girl behavior in Episode 6. Plus, the duo revealed which three castmates they would bring back to Château Rosabelle if they were green-lit for a second season.

DECIDER: What is it like having Lisa Vanderpump as a boss?
GABRIELLA SANON: When I got the call I really couldn’t believe it. And being a woman in this space, it’s really nice to work under her – especially because she really tried to let us know, like, “Listen, guys, I’m not your boss. I’m your mentor in this.” So it was really nice to work under her and learn and just watch her move through a space. It definitely expanded my knowledge.
STEPHEN ALSVIG: For me, it’s been an evolving journey because it’s been five years of me calling her my boss at Caesars in Las Vegas. It was more corporate – strictly my boss – I had to get used to really looking at her as that mentor person in my life. But you’ll see as the season progresses and you’ll see even on my social media how my vision of her and my relationship with her has evolved. It’s also a friendship that I love to have, but I do look up to her a little bit differently than I used to and it’s been exciting to get to experience that.
Stephen, there was a lot of tension between you and Eric in the first half of the season. How vindicated did you feel when Lisa called him out for his inappropriate behavior and allowed you to start stepping into his position?
SA: I felt very vindicated. But one thing I’d definitely like to clear up with everybody that’s asked this type of question is, I wasn’t after Eric for what his job was. I was after Eric for what we all – to include himself – thought his job was. He was the château estate manager. He should have been digging ditches, unclogging toilets, fixing window sills, all that kind of stuff. But he heard the word “manager” and thought, “Let me manage the staff.” And that was never the case. We were all equals. So my mindset definitely shifted back to, “Let me just focus on my events with Gabriella. We’re already killing it in the game. So why am I after anything else?”
Gabriella, I’m loving this budding romance between you and Andre. What drew you to him? And where do you stand today?
GS: I want everyone to see the full season before we drop the ball on everything but definitely, as you can see, Andre is an amazing guy. We do start connecting so I’ll let the show play out for itself and you guys will just have to see.
I’m rooting for you guys!
SA: I’m a forever third wheel. It’s been fun.
Gabriella, that scene between you and Lisa when she finds out about you and Andre is so good. In her confessional, Lisa says, “They’re shagging in the bed .. do they know that the world might be watching?” Looking back, do you have any regrets about hooking up on-camera?
GS: No, not at all. At the end of the day, this is what I signed up for, and it’s a part of life. Everyone does it every day. So let’s enjoy it. We’re in the south of France!
Stephen, you were right next to them! Was the Ambien really that strong? Or did you find yourself squishing your head between two pillows?
SA: There was only one time where I didn’t take the Ambien and I was not given the warning. And so I did my best to stay still. And then I remember getting up when I thought, “OK, the coast is clear.” And I accidentally slammed the door. She thought I was so angry but I was like, “Nope, I just wanted to give you guys your space.”
GS: But here’s the thing. So everyone needs to know, me and Stephen are exactly the same when it comes to all that so we’re on the same page. We’re good. We were the best roomies.
SA: The world is kind of lucky there wasn’t another gay staff member, or bisexual staff member, because we would have both been in the beds high-fiving from across the room.
Gabriella, Hannah and Telly were super mean to you and about you after they heard about you and Andre. Why do you think they cared so much when Grace Cottrell didn’t? And how did it make you feel to see them talking about you when you watched back?
GS: I definitely think in the moment it was more of a jealousy thing, you know, something to be mad about. Honestly, I couldn’t tell you. It’s like something that I can’t even register because my brain is not wired like that. But that’s kind of what it is. I think Grace – Grace had an understanding that, “Hey, we’ve been in here for two weeks. He’s not my man.” I have no loyalty to anyone at this point here. You know what I mean? And my God did I give her the grace of kind of just being respectful of the fact that she said, “Oh, I like him.” So I took a step back. I had my little thing with Dan and then I called it a day. Obviously, there’s going to be more and that unfolds as you guys watch. So you’ll see how everything kind of plays out.
When I heard what they said, I was like, “Do we still talk like this?” It was so mean.
GS: It’s a bit much. I’m very sex positive. I’m very just like, love who you love, be with who you want to be with. Of course, there’s boundaries. But I think that I was very much in line.
Stephen, in Episode 7 you mention that Hannah and Marciano are both “the beast”. Do you think they stand a chance at staying together long-term?
SA: I think that once Hannah gets to the point where she puts herself first and really can be happy loving herself and happy on her own, Marciano will realize, “I really am not needed here. I need to man the F up and treat her the way she needs to be treated as a woman.” Especially in the year 2024. We’re no longer the 1950s. Misogyny is over. So I think that once Hannah gets to that point and Marciano realizes that and grows, I think they have a chance. But if they stay like the way they’ve been so far, as you guys have seen, no, it won’t last long term.
We’re nearing the end of Season 1. If given the opportunity, would you go back to work at Château Rosabelle again? And if you could, which three co-workers would you want to bring back with you?
SA: Yes. This one [Sanon]. Partners in crime right here. Like, two peas in a pod. For my mental health, I need to stare at Chef Anthony as often as I possibly can. And because we’ve grown really a lot outside of the show – more than I expected to – I would like to bring Hannah back.
GS: I would 100% bring Steven, obviously. And then I would bring Grace. She was one of the hardest workers there and she’s passionate and she’s kind. She’s the best. And then I would bring Telly because we need alcohol. I need the vibes. As people can probably tell on socials, her and I are pretty close now. She brings the energy, especially when the guests are around. So that’s my top pick.
What can you tease about the second half of the season?
SA: Expect the unexpected for sure in a few situations. And just be prepared to see a journey with each and every one of us. There is going to be growth from each and every one of us.
GS: There is going to be a very, very heated debacle with a nice view. So just be ready for that. That should be very fun for viewers to watch. Ultimately, it’s a beautiful journey that everyone has been watching so I’m sure that everyone will enjoy it.
