Speaking to V Magazine, Anne Hathaway has dropped a hint that more Princess Diaries may be coming. “We’re in a good place,” is all she will divulge.
“That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place,” she said.
Hathaway played Mia Thermopolis in the first Princess Diaries movie in 2001, reprising the role for 2004’s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.
She starred alongside Julie Andrews, who played her grandmother Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the original movie and its sequel.
Andrews spoke to Today.com last month about a possible third Princess Diaries movie, and seemed to shoot down the idea. “It’s quite a long time now since the two Diaries were done, and I’m not sure, but sometimes it’s best to leave a good thing alone. I don’t like it when people milk and milk and milk the subject, you know, ’til it’s dead.”
“There was dialogue about it,” Andrews said, adding “nothing had been realized. And I think I may be wrong, but I think it’s been shelved now. I can’t be sure.”
However, she did add, “I’d be very happy if we did do another one. But I don’t expect to.”
