BAFTA Unveils Special Award Winner & Host For 2024 Craft Gongs
UK mentoring organization MAMA Youth Project is to win this year’s Special Award at the BAFTA Television Crafts, which has revealed Stacey Dooley as host. Founded by TV editing vet Bob Clarke in 2005 to make a career in TV and film more accessible to people from underrepresented backgrounds, the MAMA Youth Project has helped more than 800 young people across the UK, and it says it has a 90% employment success rate. “This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, mentors, partners, and most importantly, the incredible young people who have entrusted us with their dreams,” said Clarke. Previous recipients of the award include veteran production head Alison Barnett and TripleC, a gateway organization for deaf, disabled or neurodivergent people to access the arts and media. The award will be presented during the BAFTA Television Craft Awards ceremony on Sunday 28 April, which will take place at London’s The Brewery with storied docs presenter Dooley set to host. Big-name nominees up for craft awards include the likes of Jesse Armstrong, Charlie Brooker and Sally Wainwright, who will do battle in the writing category.
SkyShowtime Partners With Paramount On Ad Plan
SkyShowtime has partnered with Paramount Advertising International on an ad-supported plan launching tomorrow, making the Comcast/Paramount JV the first major streaming service to simultaneously launch an ad-supported plan across all of its markets, according to the service. The Standard with Ads plan will average four to five minutes of ads per hour, it said. SkyShowtime is the exclusive home of global blockbuster series Yellowstone and its spinoffs 1883 and 1923 in certain European territories that don’t have access to Comcast streamer Peacock or Paramount+. Both SkyShowtime subscription and ad plans feature the same movies, series, and local originals including A Gentleman in Moscow, Apples Never Fall, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Oppenheimer, and Paw Patrol: The Movie. “From the start, SkyShowtime has been about delivering value and the promise of great entertainment at a great price,” said CEO Monty Sarhan. “The launch of our ad-supported plan is the next step in evolving our service, coming at a time when people are looking for more choice and flexibility.” Paramount’s President of International Markets Ad Sales, Lee Sears, said: “By leveraging our deep relationships with some of the world’s leading marketers, incredible product offerings, and innovative technology, Paramount Advertising is the perfect partner for SkyShowtime. We will enhance our value to our partners by enabling advertisers to buy across SkyShowtime’s global franchises, series and films alongside the breadth of Paramount’s premium video inventory in a comprehensive and impactful way.”
