Fans of The Office, assemble!
A new report from Deadline reveals that Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson have joined the cast of the show set in the “universe” of the beloved NBC comedy, citing their intel from “sources close to production.”
Buzz about a reboot spurred in September 2023 following a Puck newsletter, but was seemingly hushed by Daniels the following month, telling Collider at the time, “Well, I think it’s very speculative.”
However, in January 2024, sources informed Deadline that Daniels had put together a writers room for the project, appealing to the hopes of fans everywhere. However, the outlet notes that the series is allegedly “not a reboot,” but rather just set in the same universe, and potentially in a different office.
The comedy series is reportedly being developed by Universal Television, The Office creator Greg Daniels, and Michael Koman, who served as a co-creator, executive producer, and writer for Comedy Central’s Nathan For You, per Deadline. Koman is also married to The Office alum Ellie Kemper, per People.
Unfortunately, no further information has been disclosed surrounding Impacciatore and Gleeson’s roles.
Fans of The White Lotus will recognize Impacciatore as Valentina from Season 2 of the HBO anthology series, which aired in 2022. Meanwhile, Gleeson most recently starred in PBS Masterpiece‘s Alice & Jack in the title role of Jack, and also starred with Michael Scott himself, Steve Carell, in The Patient (2022).
As fans very well know, the mockumentary sitcom was set in Scranton, Pennsylvania in the office of paper company Dunder Mifflin, helmed by Carell’s Michael Scott. The cast also featured a slew of comedy talent, including Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, and B.J. Novak.
