Princess Kate’s “I’m in control” remark to Prince William has featured in a new viral video after a compilation of clips captured throughout the couple’s 13-year marriage has been uploaded by fans to social media site TikTok.
William and Kate have become the focus of increased public attention since the beginning of 2024, first when it was announced that the princess had undergone abdominal surgery in January and then again in the build up to and aftermath of her announcement in March that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.
Kate has not made any official public appearances so far this year and in the absence of any new images or events, fans have taken to social media to reflect and repost content from past years.
Uploaded to TikTok by user helensmccrory, on April 1, a compilation of clips showing light-hearted moments between William and Kate has won praise from fans, being viewed over half a million times on the platform so far.
Highlighted in the video is a humorous exchange between the couple during a rappelling teambuilding exercise which took place on a 2015 visit to Wales.
The prince and princess visited the Towers Residential Outdoor Education Centre connected with William’s role as patron of the Mountain Rescue England and Wales organization.
During the visit, William—who not only trained with the British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy but is also a trained Air Ambulance first responder—put his rappelling skills to the test with his wife serving as anchor, charged with the role as counterbalance, letting him down a steep incline slowly.
As the prince descended, Kate teased her husband in a moment that was caught by the news cameras covering the event.
“How much do you love me?” she joked, holding his supporting rope.
“Are you ok?” she added, to which William responded: “You’re holding me!”
“I quite enjoy this actually,” Kate said. “For once I’m in control.”
Also included in the viral compilation is an outtake from the couple’s video introduction to their official YouTube channel. “You have to be careful what you say now because these guys, they’re filming everything,” William joked in an off-guarded moment.
Captioned “I love when they’re in their silly little moods,” the TikTok video has received in excess of 41,000 likes and over 140 comments, many of which have praised the royal couple.
“They’re such a beautiful couple, just love them so much,” wrote one user.
“Can’t wait to see this side of them again,” posted another, with a further comment reading: “These two are adorable.”
William and Kate will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29. Together they have three children: Prince George, born 2013; Princess Charlotte, born 2015; and Prince Louis, born 2018.
