From Moscow to the Met.

A source tells Page Six that WNBA star Brittney Griner, who was wrongfully detained in Russia from February 2022 until her release in a prisoner swap in December 2022, will be attending this year’s Met Gala.

Griner — who was sent to a penal colony for allegedly having less than a gram of medically prescribed hash in her luggage while playing basketball abroad — appeared in New York City earlier this month at Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network’s Women’s Empowerment Luncheon at the Sheraton in New York where she pledged to help others detained overseas.

“I want to continue to fight to bring home every American detained overseas. That means everything to me,” she told the crowd.

It is unknown which fashion designer the Phoenix Mercury star will accompany to fashion’s biggest night. (There’s a longstanding tradition that each guest goes to the bash with the designer whose fashion house dressed the star.)

The star-studded event takes place this year on May 1 with the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”

Other stars expected to climb the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art include Kim Kardashian, who recently Instagrammed pictures of herself with Lagerfeld’s famous cat Choupette, and Paris Hilton, who is attending for the first time.

Page Six also hears that Rihanna, Salma Hayek, Pete Davidson, Olivia Rodrigo and Serena Williams are among those slated to be at the fête.

Blake Lively, who has gone in the past, will not be there.

Anna Wintour chose Dua Lipa, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer and Michaela Coel to join her as co-hosts for the evening, which will celebrate Lagerfeld’s work for Chanel, Fendi, Chloé, Balmain and his eponymous brands.

Lagerfeld died at the age of 85 in 2019.
