Investigation Discovery has released their latest true crime series, Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster, which focuses on disgraced Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle and his crimes as a child sex predator. The three-part series premiered on Monday (March 6) and has gathered plenty of attention.
Fogle — also known as the “Subway Guy” — rose to prominence in the early 2000s after sharing his weight loss journey. He claims to have dropped 245 pounds through exercise and a diet of Subway sandwiches.
ID writes that the former spokesperson, while “a pop culture icon and an inspiration to millions of Americans,” was also a “monster” due to his horrific crimes. The docuseries teases, “This is the untold story of how he dupes America and how he is brought to justice.”

Where Is Jared Fogle Now?
In August 2015, Fogle pleaded guilty to child sex tourism and child pornography charges and was sentenced with 15 years in a federal prison. He is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution, Englewood in Colorado.
Per NBC News, after his sentencing, Fogle told the judge that he wanted to “redeem” his life and become a “good, honest person.” Fogle has since attempted to appeal his sentencing twice and was last denied in 2017.
As of now, the convicted criminal will not be eligible for parole until 13 years of his sentence are completed. He will have to register as a sex offender.
In 2016, it was reported that Fogle had gained between 20 to 30 pounds while in prison. He was also assaulted by a 60-year-old inmate, which left him with “facial bruising, a bloodied nose and neck abrasions,” per People. The attacker’s relative gave insight into the assault, stating, “He had to hit him. That’s how the whole thing started. He just can’t be around child molesters. He doesn’t like them.”
Fogle wrote a letter, obtained by The New York Post, in 2021, expressing remorse for his crimes. “I really royally screwed up to wind up where I am. I was selfish and entitled,” he penned. Fogle continued to share his prison diet, stating, “I try to avoid too much junk food. I snack on granola bars and protein bars. I feel really good physically and mentally.”
He concluded, “I very much look forward to re-starting my life and enjoying every moment with my family who have stood by and supported me. I’m so lucky to have them.”
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the earliest Fogle can be released from prison is March 24, 2029, per the Post‘s reporting.
