Al Roker, we hope everything is OK in your neck of the woods. Fans of The Today Show are concerned for the longtime host after noticing he’s been absent from the show for more than a week. And with no confirmation as to why, his fans are hoping he is simply on vacation — and we’ve got our fingers crossed, too.
Roker last hosted on Friday, Nov. 4, when he carried out his usual duties on the morning show, including the Third Hour of Today. But fans couldn’t help but notice that Roker has been out since last Monday, Nov. 7.
One day after he last appeared on our television screens, the host took to Instagram to share a post of the moon, where he wrote, “Tonight, the moon looks spectacular. Always have to remember to look up.” Inspiring, but leaving us with more questions than answers.
Decider has reached out to representatives at The Today Show for clarification about Roker’s absence, but didn’t hear back by time of publication.
Since taking a Today break, Roker has stayed active on social media, posting a Veterans Day tribute and a clip from his Peacock show, The More You Know. With neither post mentioning why he’s been out from work, many fans took to the comments section to share their concerns.
“Everyone is worried about you Al, you okay?” one asked, while another sent well wishes, writing, “Hope you are well and just on vacation.”
Another commenter added, “Al…… I watch The Today show because of you. Hurry back.”
“We miss you Al! Today Show is NOT the same without you,” one chimed in, while one commenter demanded, “Please tell us where Al is! Missing him and worried something is wrong!”
Yet another fan shared, “I’m worried about you, Al. You’ve been absent for more than a week. Hope you’re doing okay.”
Earlier last month, Roker’s wife Deborah Roberts revealed on Instagram that he had contracted COVID-19. However, it is unclear if the host is feeling under the weather or taking a well-deserved vacation before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade mania — we certainly hope it’s the latter.
