JoJo Siwa praised Jenna Dewan for being part of her “gay awakening” in a video posted to TikTok this week.
“She did a really great ‘Magic Mike’ number,” the “Boomerang” singer, 19, said in a freestyle rap, referencing Dewan’s performance of “Pony” on an episode of “Lip Sync Battle.”
“I pretty much watched it every day/ Little me, she didn’t know she was gay.”
Dewan, 41, later posted a duet with Siwa’s video, smiling along as the teen shared her “gay awakening story timeâ¨ð.”
“Jojo i have never been more honoredâ¦!! ððð ð ðð,” the “Step Up” actress captioned the clip.
In Siwa’s video, she also acknowledged that Demi Lovato’s song “Cool for the Summer” played an integral part of her epiphany that she wasn’t interested in dating men.
“I really really liked it and listened to it all the time/ I didn’t know what it meant back then but now that I’m much older and I understand, I know what it means!,” the “So You Think You Can Dance” judge rapped.
Lovato, 30, previously hinted that her 2015 hit song may be about her bisexuality.
The lyrics state, “Tell me what you want, what you like, it’s okay / I’m a little curious too / Tell me if it’s wrong, if it’s right, I don’t care / I can keep a secret, can you?”
When asked once if the song was about her sexuality, Lovato coyly responded, “I’m not confirming and I’m definitely not denying. All of my songs are based off of personal experiences. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with experimentation at all.”
On TikTok, Siwa concluded her “storytime” with an anecdote about her first date, which was with a man.
She rapped, “And he wanted to have sex with me / And I, did not want to, never wanted to, grossed out by the thought of it.
“[I] immediately knew, men are not my thing / Women are my gig.”
Siwa came out publicly as gay in January 2021 by wearing a T-shirt that read, “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.â
Last month, the “Dance Moms” alum confirmed she was in a relationship with 22-year-old influencer Avery Cyrus after breaking things off with her now-ex Kylie Prew.
