The Jan. 6 committee announced an additional, unexpected hearing yesterday, announcing upcoming testimony from former Mike Meadows aide and Donald Trump‘s final chief of staff, Cassidy Hutchinson. After reviewing “recently obtained evidence,” the committee scheduled a surprise hearing, but kept the details sparse, declining to share what exactly will be discussed, The New York Times reports.
Hutchinson has already shared some crucial details with the committee, and was reportedly witness to Trump’s approval of chants from his supporters calling to hang Vice President Mike Pence the day of the insurrection, per the Times.
Her upcoming testimony will mark her fourth appearance in the hearings; the Times reports that she previously testified three times behind closed doors. Clips of her testimony have also been shown in past hearings. Hutchinson’s appearance is the latest in a string of hearings this month, but was added last-minute. The committee was not scheduled to hold any additional hearings until July.
