Jessica Simpson’s daughter Maxwell has an unlikely BFF: North West.
“One of Maxwell’s best friends is North,” Simpson revealed to Us Weekly Thursday.
“She is amazing,” the fashion designer raved of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s eldest child. “She is a great kid, and she will be a part of a change in this world.”
Simpson, 41, shares Maxwell, 9, as well as son Ace, 8, and daughter Birdie, 3, with her husband, Eric Johnson.
The “With You” singer shared that Maxwell and North became friends after playing on the same basketball team, which former NFL star Johnson, 42, coached “just recently.”
Both families live in California, with Simpson saying it is “fun” being in the same neighborhood as Kardashian, 41, and her four kids: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.
“That [proximity] makes it easy,” she added.
Simpson — who had her own reality show, “Newlyweds,” with ex-husband Nick Lachey long before “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” premiered — went on to commend the Skims founder’s kids for staying “the same” despite having grown up in the public eye.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t know how y’all could do this all the time,’” she said of the Kardashian-Jenner family. “I could only last three seasons [on ‘Newlyweds’], but they’re so open and they’ve always remained the same. … That’s really hard to do, and they’re powerhouses.”
Simpson noted that because reality TV is more common these days, it may be easier for the Kardashians than when she and Lachey, 48, had their show from 2003 to 2005.
“It was one of the first, and so it was [cameras] following me all day long from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep unless I kicked them out, but I always felt bad,” she said. “I don’t think that reality shows are set up like that nowadays. I think they have shooting days and that type of thing.”
Simpson and Johnson married in July 2014, eight years after she finalized her divorce from Lachey.
