Gal Gadot has opened up more about the nasty feud she had with “Justice League” director Joss Whedon on the set of the DC film.
The 36-year-old actress disclosed new details about the incident in an exclusive interview with Elle magazine published this week. Gadot admitted that she was taken aback when the 57-year-old director allegedly threatened to end her career after she expressed concern about her character and dialogue.
“Oh, I was shaking trees as soon as it happened. … And if he says it to me, then obviously he says it to many other people. I just did what I felt like I had to do. And it was to tell people that it’s not okay,” she said.
The “Wonder Woman” star continued, “I would’ve done the same thing, I think, if I was a man. Would he tell me what he told me had I been a man? I don’t know. We’ll never know. But my sense of justice is very strong. I was shocked by the way that he spoke to me.”
Gadot shared that she’s glad the heads of Warner Bros. sided with her following the incident and took care of it. However, specific details on how the studio handled the issue were not revealed to the public.
The controversy involving Gadot started when The Hollywood Reporter ran a story in April about her “Justice League” co-star Ray Fisher’s allegations against Whedon and the studio. Fisher, 34, accused the director of “gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable” behavior on the set.
A month after the story generated buzz online, Gadot corroborated Fisher’s claims when she revealed through Israeli news outlet N12 that Whedon allegedly threatened her career and even told her that he “would make my career miserable.”
Following Gadot’s recent interview, Whedon and Warner Bros. were asked for comment by Entertainment Weekly, but their representatives did not immediately respond.
Meanwhile, Gadot shared on Instagram snaps from the photoshoot she did for Elle’s upcoming 2021 Women in Hollywood issue. According to the actress, she feels so honored to be part of the “amazing, inspiring group of women” featured in the magazine.
