Wendy Williams will not appear as host in the Season 13 premiere of her eponymous talk show next week due to her ongoing health issues.
The 57-year-old talk show host “is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition,” “The Wendy Williams Show” said in a statement on Instagram Tuesday.
The show noted that Williams remains “under medical supervision and meets with her medical team on a daily basis.”
“The Wendy Williams Show” will return as scheduled next Monday for its Season 13 premiere, but Williams will be replaced for the time being with guest hosts and panels, who will be announced “shortly,” according to the show.
“Wendy is a valued and stalwart member of the Debmar-Mercury family and has been so for 12 years. We want her health to be her top priority,” the statement continued. “As soon as she’s ready, she will be back in her treasured purple chair. We very much appreciate the respect for Wendy’s privacy, as well as all the good wishes from her fans, station partners and advertisers.”
Williams’ fans and friends immediately flooded the post with messages wishing the TV personality a speedy recovery. They also sent her their love and prayers.
“Love you, Wendy! Get better and take as much time as you need!” Milly Almodovar wrote.
“We love you Wendy [heart emoji]. Praying for you and sending love,” Devyn Simone commented.
“This is how you stand by your talent! Sending all the healing vibes to Wendy & love to my Wendy family!” AJ Gibson wrote.
“The Wendy Williams Show” was originally set to return for the new season on Sept. 18. However, Williams tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19, and it was pushed back to Oct. 4
“Wendy is on the mend and doing well. There was a meeting this week, and [execs] assured staff the show will return on Oct. 4., and Wendy is ready to get back to work,” an unnamed insider told Page Six at the time.
In another update posted late September to Instagram, however, the production announced that the premiere would be further postponed to Oct. 18 due to Williams’ health issues. “Her breakthrough COVID case is no longer an issue and she has tested negative, but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues,” the statement read.
