A new campaign ad released Monday for Republican Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler proudly touts her as “more conservative than Attila the Hun.”
The 30-second spot — which includes an actor playing the fifth century warlord — opens with a man and woman seated on a sofa discussing Loeffler’s merits.
“Did you know Kelly Loeffler was ranked the most conservative senator in America?” asks the woman.
“Yep!” replies the man. “She’s more conservative than Attila the Hun!”
The camera then cuts to the interior of a yurt, where “Attila” — a conqueror known for leading brutal incursions from the steppes of Asia into the Roman and Byzantine empires — issues a series of grunted orders to a scribe.
“Fight China, got it,” said the underling, jotting down the instruction on a piece of parchment.
“Attack the government, yeah,” he said.
“Eliminate the liberal scribes,” he noted — looking to the camera with a panicked expression. “Uh oh.”
A voiceover intones again, “More conservative than Attila the Hun. Kelly Loeffler: 100-percent Trump voting record,” while cutting to an image of the beaming president sitting next to Loeffler.
She is now running to serve the two years remaining on Isakson’s term.
Loeffler a millionaire businesswoman prior to her foray into politics, and the wife of the chairman and CEO of the New York Stock Exchange was one of multiple lawmakers to come under fire in March when it was revealed they dumped millions of dollars in stock following a private Capitol Hill hearing on the coronavirus.
She has also engaged in a war of words with players for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, which she co-owns, over their wearing messages on their jerseys including “Black Lives Matter” to protest racial injustice.
Members of the team have responded by publicly endorsing Raphael Warnock, a Democrat running against Loeffler for her Senate seat.
