A Massachusetts husband and wife who had recently broken up were reportedly found dead Saturday in an apparent murder-suicide.
State police are investigating the deaths of Amber Pereira, 30, and Joshua Pereira, 31.
A relative of Amber’s had called 911 when she discovered the pair’s bodies in their Somerset home around 8:05 a.m. Saturday, the local CBS affiliate reported.
Police arrived to find the two dead of apparent gunshot wounds. A gun was underneath Joshua, in what the Bristol County District Attorney’s office described as an “apparent murder-suicide.”
Officials said Joshua had recently moved out of the home after the couple had separated, but had driven back to the residence sometime before 8 a.m., according to the station.
Witnesses heard multiple gunshots coming from inside the home shortly after his arrival, according to the DA’s office.
Investigators don’t believe anyone else was in the home besides the couple at the time of the shooting.
Further details were not immediately clear and the investigation is ongoing.
The state medical examiner’s office will conduct autopsies to determine the couple’s official cause of death.
