Cardi B called out celebrities and even US President Donald Trump for “confusing” people about the coronavirus. She said that the people who have come out and said they tested positive for COVID-19 were making things more unclear for the general public.
According to NBC, the female rapper came out on Instagram to post her video, which is more than 4-minute long, where she called out celebrities and referred to the president as “45.” She also called out Trump for telling people not to get tested for the virus if they feel that they don’t have any of the symptoms.
She later clarified her stand. She said that when a celebrity who doesn’t show any of the symptoms gets tested and comes out as positive, it causes confusion. She also wore a mask in the duration of the video, which had been viewed more than 15 million times by her followers and other netizens.
Cardi B said the class divide between the rich and the poor is apparent in these times. When normal people have tests that last for weeks and even months, celebrities can get their results within a week, or even within days. She ended that by saying that the virus is very real and very dangerous.
In a different, expletive-laden video, which was covered in length on Huff Post, it showed that Cardi B may have been confused herself. She also said it was surprising how a virus that originated from China was now happening everywhere. The virus started in Wuhan and has since reached other countries aside from the U.S.
The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic and cases have been on the climb. Health advisories included reminders to people to wash their hands and practice social distancing, which has since been made into law through quarantines and lockdowns in affected countries.
Cardi B pointed out that not everyone was lucky enough to practice social distancing during quarantines. Others still had to go home to neighborhoods where they just can’t “stay away from people”. The rapper named no celebrities, but clarified that many people don’t have the means to get themselves tested for coronavirus.
