After a successful stint as Spider-Man in the Marvel films, Tom Holland is all set to enter the world of video game adaptations with the upcoming movie “Uncharted.” The actor will be seen playing the role of Nathan Drake in the flick.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, the 23-year-old actor opened up about the various aspects of the movie and revealed that the film will be an origin story. The “Avengers: Endgame” star believes that the movie will be doing something that none of the earlier video game adaptations has ever done before – “telling the origin story.”
He further added that people who haven’t played the “Uncharted” games will enjoy the movie thoroughly.
“I think what ‘Uncharted’ offers that most video games films do not is that it is an origin story to the games. So if you played the games, you have not seen what is going to happen in the film. And if you have not played the games, you are going to enjoy the film because it is information that everyone else is getting at the same time,” Holland said.
The video game chronicles the journey of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter, who embarks on a journey to find the lost treasure of El Dorado. He is accompanied by journalist Elena Fisher and mentor Victor Sullivan. But the adventure turns deadly when Drake is hunted by mercenaries, who have been sent to kill him.
Later in the interview, the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” star admitted that he was blown away by the script and insisted that it is one of the best scripts he has ever read.
“I read the newest draft of the on the way over here and it is one of the best scripts I have ever read. It really, really jumps off the page,” Holland said.
The movie has been pushed back to March 2021 and the studio is currently looking for a director to helm the movie. Last year, Travis Knight, who directed “Bumblebee,” dropped out of the project due to Holland’s commitments to Spider-Man.
The acclaimed star will be next seen in Antonio Campos’ “The Devil All The Time.” The film also stars Robert Pattinson, Mia Wasikowska, Bill Skarsgard, Eliza Scanlen, Sebastian Stan, and Jason Clarke in pivotal roles.
