Late rapper Juice WRLD, or better known to his family as Jarad, was just 21-years-old when he suffered from a seizure and passed away. Now, his mother, Carmella Wallace, is speaking out about what led to her son’s death.
In an exclusive statement to TMZ, she addressed the addiction battle he was engaged in, which is believed to have contributed to his death.
“We loved Jarad with all of our heats and cannot believe our time with him has been cut short. As he often addressed in his music and to his fans, Jarad battled with prescription drug dependency,” she said.
“Addiction knows no boundaries and its impact goes way beyond the person fighting it. Jared was a son, brother, grandson, friend and so much more to so many people who wanted more than anything to see him defeat addiction,” Wallace continued.
Wallace is hoping that the death of her son will “help others” also battling with addiction.
“We hope the conversations he started in his music and his legacy will help others win their battles as that is what he wanted more than anything,” she said. “We know that Jarad’s legacy of love, joy and emotional honestly will live on.”

TMZ previously reported that Juice WRLD and his entourage were carrying guns on his private jet, which prompted the FBI and FAA agents to search the plane. He also allegedly had Percocet pills with him and the outlet was told that during this search, the rapper was seen swallowing several of these pills to try and hide them. The source thinks that swallowing these pills could be a contributing factor to his death.
Agents found 70 pounds of marijuana hidden in vacuum-sealed bags and placed in luggage during their search of his private jet and two men who were present were arrested for gun possession and later released. As of press time, no toxicology, cardiac pathology and neuropathology testing has been done yet, though an autopsy was performed.
