Trump’s new ‘word salad’ on Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping leaves observers taken aback

President Donald Trump’s newest “word salad” about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie earlier this month left observers taken aback.

Trump commented on Guthrie’s case during a press gaggle on Air Force One on Thursday as he traveled to Rome, Georgia. Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for more than 18 days, and authorities in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona have released relatively little information about her alleged kidnappers or her condition.

During the gaggle, Trump questioned some of the moves investigators made, like releasing information about tying Guthrie’s disappearance to data they collected from her pacemaker. He also said it was time for the media to start reporting on other stories while the investigation continues.

“We have to start reporting on other subjects also and see what happens,” Trump said. “It’s a very sad situation.”

Trump’s comments left observers on social media taken aback.

“Word. Salad,” Hemant Mehta, a former Jeopardy! champion, posted on X.

“Trump is upset that he isn’t getting all the attention,” Vince Wilson, a progressive YouTuber, posted on X. “What a dumb narcissist.”

“Well, he can tell the FCC and his DOJ to make that happen,” S.V. Dáte, senior political reporter at HuffPost, posted on X.

“Trump is tired of seeing Fox News coverage on Nancy Guthrie,” a political commentary account, PatriotTakes, posted on X.
