President Donald Trump issued a rare apology on Wednesday night to voters in one of the president’s “cherished’ red states.
Trump told the voters of ruby red Oklahoma in a post on Truth Social that he was “sorry” for supporting Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, who Trump described as a “RINO,” an acronym for Republican in name only. Trump made the comments at a time when he suffered a stinging setback in Congress, as Republicans in the House voted with Democrats to cancel Trump’s tariffs.
“When Kevin Stitt, the very mediocre (at best!) RINO Governor of Oklahoma, was losing his Election to a Democrat, primarily because he did a bad job, he called for my help,” Trump wrote. “I Endorsed him, and he won — Sorry, my cherished Oklahoma, to have done that to you!”
