Bad Bunny wipes Instagram after Super Bowl LX halftime show backlash

Latin singer Bad Bunny wiped his entire Instagram account just hours after receiving a torrent of backlash following his halftime show performance at Sunday’s Super Bowl LX.

President Trump led the conservative critiques, branding the artist’s choreography “disgusting” as he railed against the halftime show, describing it as one of the worst ever in Super Bowl history.

Bad Bunny’s Instagram account has no profile picture and there are no posts on his grid, leaving his more than 50 million followers stunned.

The so-called “King of Latin Trap”, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has also wiped his following list.

He has not cleared his list of followers, which stands at 53.2 million users.

It’s not the first time the singer has cleared his Instagram. He wiped it in 2022 after joining TikTok, according to Fox News.

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium was entirely in Spanish and Trump described it as an “affront to the Greatness of America.”

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” Trump raged in a Truth Social post.

“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

Andrew Kolvet, a Turning Point USA spokesperson, said: “Worse than I realized. Pure degeneracy.”

Bad Bunny’s track, “Tití Me Preguntó” (My Auntie Asked Me”) sparked controversy as it contains a nod to promiscuity.

While conservatives criticized the Puerto Rican singer’s performance in their droves, top Democrats fawned over it.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who could put his name forward for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, described the performance as a beautiful moment.

He thanked the artist for using his voice, before adding: “Together we are America.”

Firebrand lawmakers Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) also gushed over the star.

Ocasio-Cortez posted emojis of the Puerto Rico state flag and Crockett quipped: “Bad Bunny understood the assignment…”

A-listers, including ex-football star Tom Brady, also fawned over Bad Bunny’s spectacle.

Prior to the Super Bowl, Jake Paul, 29, said he wouldn’t tune into the halftime show.

“Purposefully turning off the halftime show, he wrote on X.

“Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them). You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”

He later clarified his statement, saying he wasn’t describing Bad Bunny as a “fake citizen” because of his Puerto Rican origins.

“I live in Puerto Rico, and I love Puerto Rico. I have used my platform to support Puerto Rico time and time again and will always do so,” he said in a subsequent post.

“But if you’re publicly criticizing ICE who are doing their job and openly hating on America, I’m going to speak on it. Period.

“If you benefit from a country and the platform it gives you, but publicly disrespect it at the same time, that’s what I mean by being a fake citizen.”
