At age 38, most NFL aficionados can only dream of becoming a head coach.

Mike Macdonald already is — and has an additional achievement under his belt: a $10 million estate.

The Seattle Seahawks head coach quietly snapped up an 8,580-square-foot compound in Redmond, Washington, in May 2024 for that princely sum, just months after being hired to replace Pete Carroll.

The home had originally been listed for $10.95 million. On paper, that looks like a healthy price chop. But zoom out: the previous owners paid $7.95 million. In other words, the property appreciated by more than $2 million before Macdonald ever moved in.

The five-bedroom, three-bath estate sits within the Farm at Union-Novelty Hill and leans hard into resort-style living. There’s seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining space, a pool and spa, an indoor golf center and a full gym. A theater room and a hidden speakeasy nod to after-hours fun, while an auto barn and organic gardens round out what the listing called a “legacy estate.”

It’s a bold move for a coach whose estimated net worth is about $15 million — and who, at the time of his hiring in January 2024, became the youngest head coach in the NFL.

Macdonald’s rise has been fast and calculated. A former defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens from 2022 to 2023, he had already built a reputation as a cerebral play-caller.

In Seattle, he delivered early results, becoming the first coach in franchise history to notch 10 wins in his first season. In year two, he pushed the Seahawks to a 14-3 record, a franchise best, locking up the NFC West and the conference’s top seed before marching to a Super Bowl berth.

While he’s settling into life in the Pacific Northwest, Macdonald hasn’t cut ties with Maryland — he’s monetized them.

The coach is renting out his Reisterstown, Maryland, home for $15,000 per month. He purchased the 6,299-square-foot property in 2022 for $2.3 million during his Ravens tenure.

That four-bedroom, five-bath house sits at the end of a long, tree-lined drive backing onto hundreds of acres of protected woodland. It underwent a two-year expansion and renovation, adding cherry floors, mahogany doors, coffered ceilings and layers of custom millwork. The kitchen boasts a Viking six-burner range with a griddle, dual dishwashers, a butler’s pantry with wet bar and double refrigerator drawers.

Upstairs, the primary suite includes a gas fireplace, heated spa floors and an infinity tub. Downstairs, a secondary kitchen opens toward a heated pool, a 10-person spa and bluestone patio.
