Rocker Jack White unleashed on President Donald Trump on Friday over a now-deleted video posted to his Truth Social account depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes dancing to the 1961 song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
Writing on Instagram, White called the MAGA leader’s post, which sparked bipartisan outrage, “sick” and “deranged” and said it would result in anyone else being immediately fired.
“This post would basically get anyone, at any job fired immediately … except for arguably the most important position in the world,” White wrote in his lengthy post, as first reported in Billboard.
“How is it possible we’ve given this evil man so much power?” he added. He went on to call Trump a felon and a “grifter,” who’s been accused of rape, and referred to the president as a “longtime friend” of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
White, co-founder of the White Stripes, also urged Americans to oust and prosecute Trump.
“Arrest this man. Impeach this man. 25th amendment this man. Indict this man. Jail this man,” he said.
White added: “Abolish these loopholes, abolish the electoral college, and if we had any sense we would abolish the two party system (that George Washington advised us never to have) that got us here in the first place,” he wrote Friday. “…And has failed not only Americans, but everyone else in the world who is currently suffering from our policies and suffering from the whims of this sick, deranged man who I will state again, has his tiny, bruised fingers on the nuclear launch button.”
Trump’s post reportedly remained online for 12 hours before being deleted. A White House official told media outlets it had been “erroneously” shared to Trump’s account by a staffer, according to Billboard.
