Pregnant mother-of-two killed while biking with family in Los Angeles

A pregnant mother was fatally struck by a car while riding a bike alongside her husband and two children in Los Angeles.

Regan Cole-Graham was seven months pregnant with a baby girl when she was killed in the seaside neighborhood of Playa del Rey around 6 p.m. Saturday, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC Los Angeles.

The 36-year-old was riding an electric bike with her husband, Matt Graham, and their two children when she was struck by a sedan traveling in the same direction.

She was taken to a local hospital, where doctors delivered her unborn baby before she was pronounced dead.

The baby girl was transported to the NICU at UCLA Children’s Hospital but later died, according to a GoFundMe set up to support the family.

“Tragically, Regan’s cherished baby girl passed away last night. Please continue to hold Matt and the boys in your thoughts and prayers,” the fundraising page said.

“We are all truly grateful for the outpouring of support.”

The driver, described by police as an elderly man, remained at the scene.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Cole-Graham was remembered as a “loving & devoted wife, a fierce & joyful mother, a hilarious & loyal sister, and a beautiful, fiery daughter.”

“We are raising money to help pay for funeral expenses and help Matt with the kids’ future,” the page said. “We appreciate your love and support.”

Interest in the fundraiser grew after independent journalist Chris Cillizza shared the page on X and revealed that he was a college friend of Cole-Graham’s husband.

“I wanted to share a tragedy with you all. And ask you for help,” Cillizza wrote.

“On Saturday night, my college friend Matt Graham, his wife Regan Cole-Graham, and their two young boys were riding bikes in Los Angeles. She was struck by a car and killed. She was also seven months pregnant with their third child — a little girl.”

Images shared on the fundraiser’s page show the mom of two and her husband smiling with their two children on a beach at sunset, her pregnant belly visible, along with images from their wedding day and cherished moments with their sons.

The fundraiser had raised more than $144,000 as of Tuesday morning.
