Some D.C.-area schools will open on a delayed schedule Tuesday as districts try to resume classes after the winter storm more than a week ago.
At least one district, D.C. Public Schools, plans to open on a normal schedule Tuesday, Mayor Muriel E. Bowser said. The district was among the first to reopen, with two-hour delays in recent days.
School districts consider multiple factors, including road conditions, in deciding whether to change their bell schedules. Several have explained that streets and sidewalks remain impassible after the Jan. 25 storm and that piles of snow and ice have created safety hazards for buses.
Here are announced closings and other schedule changes for Tuesday:
- Alexandria City Public Schools: Two-hour delay
- Anne Arundel County Public Schools: Two-hour delay
- Arlington Public Schools: Two-hour delay
- Howard County Public Schools: Two-hour delay
- Spotsylvania County Public Schools: Remote learning
