Catherine O’Hara: A Life in Pictures

Catherine O’Hara, the comedian and actress who died on Friday at 71, had a wide-ranging career that spanned half a century, collecting fans from multiple generations along the way.

She began acting in the 1970s, notably on the Canadian sketch comedy series “SCTV,” where she won her first Emmy Award for her writing. She then won roles in movies like “After Hours,” “Beetlejuice” and “Home Alone” and fostered a long-lasting collaborative relationship with the director Christopher Guest, starring in four of his mockumentary films, including “Best in Show.”

For younger generations, O’Hara became known for her role as the zany and eccentric Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek.” She appeared most recently on the award-winning series “The Studio.”
