Emmy Award-winning performer Catherine O’Hara, who was known for her iconic roles in “Home Alone,” “Beetlejuice” and hit sitcom series “Schitt’s Creek,” has died. She was 71.

The Canadian American actress and comedian was known for her standout performances in several major films and television series, including a number of Christopher Guest mockumentary films, “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind” and “For Your Consideration.” O’Hara was the voice actor behind characters Sally and Shock in the Tim Burton film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

O’Hara most recently starred opposite Seth Rogan in “The Studio” and earned an Emmy nomination for her role, according to TMZ.

She was born in Toronto in 1954, the second youngest of seven children, People reported. Her father worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway and her mother was a real estate agent.

Her first acting role was playing the Virgin Mary in a Nativity play and after she graduated from high school, she landed a job at the Second City Theater in Toronto.
