A Minnesota man has been arrested after he reportedly entered a federal lockup posing as an FBI agent — and wielding a pizza cutter — claiming he had paperwork to free accused assassin Luigi Mangione.
Mark Anderson, of Mankato, faces federal charges for impersonating an FBI agent and was set to make his court appearance Thursday. Sources told The New York Times the stunt was all about freeing Mangione, the 27-year-old accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan back in 2024.
Since landing behind bars, Mangionehas become a folk hero for some. Supporters have flooded his legal defense fund and showered him with fan mail, books, and photos at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The outpouring of support for the accused killer has left many Americans and officials reeling. Mangione faces murder charges in both federal and state court.
