The prolonged cleanup after last weekend’s winter storm will disrupt classes again for some students in the D.C. region Thursday.
Districts have attributed the closures to still lingering icy conditions on some roads and sidewalks as a bitter cold settles in the region.
Many school systems built multiple snow days into their academic calendar, though virtual learning was offered instead of a complete closure Wednesday to students in Alexandria and at some D.C. charters.
Here are announced closings and other schedule changes for Thursday:
- D.C. public charter schools: Status varies, is being tracked here
- Montgomery County Public Schools: Closed; code red for employees.
- Prince George’s County Public Schools: Closed; emergency personnel to report.
- Spotsylvania County Schools: Closed; essential personnel report to perform emergency services as necessary.
- Stafford County Public Schools: Closed.
- Prince William County Schools: Two-hour delayed opening.
