The U.S. District Court for Minnesota is set to hold hearings in two key lawsuits Monday as state and local officials try to constrain federal immigration operations in the state. In one case, the suit seeks to prevent federal officials from destroying evidence related to the Border Patrol’s fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, during an altercation with federal agents on Saturday. In the other, Minnesota’s attorney general is asking to end the surge of federal immigration officers in the state.
