Bread, eggs, milk— and weed! Potheads swarm cannabis shops to prep for blizzard

There’s a run on bread, eggs, milk — and weed.

Potheads swarmed New York’s licensed cannabis shopsto get their stash of marijuana ahead of the snowstorm — emptying the shelves, merchants and customers told The Post.

“I had to get over here before I got locked in,” said Jared Schroder, a customer at the Stoop NYC cannabis shop on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, to the Post in a phone interview from the dispensary.

Schoder said he stocked up on $400 worth of marijuana flower, pre-rolled joints and extracts, or concentrates.

“If we get snowed in, I got everything I need,” he said.

Stoops NYC co-founder and operational lead Chris Kulian said their sales surged by $8,000 over the same week last year.

“It’s eggs, bread, milk — and cannabis,” Kulian said. “Cannabis has become the new staple.”

Business meanwhile doubled at The Cannabis Placein Middle Village, Queens, and Jersey City, NJ, ahead of the storm, said CEO Osbert Orduna.

Cannabis-infused chocolates — popular during the winter — have nearly sold out, he said.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in our sales in our New York and New Jersey locations — in-store and deliveries, Orduna said.

“It’s 100 percent because of the storm. We doubled our staff to meet the demand.”

Orduna had orders going out Saturday and early Sunday before he was set to close his stores at noon Sunday

“The safety of our staff and customers is paramount,” he said.

Pablo Velez, owner of the recently opened Flower Daddy in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, said customers walked in his cannabis store with their grocery staples.

“We are on the grocery list. There was more customer traffic on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” he said.

Customers were buying flowered weed, vapes and gummies “to chill at home during the storm,” Velez said.

Flower Daddy planned to close Sunday during the blizzard.

There are now 578 licensed adult-use cannabis dispensaries across the Empire State, including 245 in New York City, since the rollout began three years ago when the legislature legalized sales for recreational use.
