Former Uvalde, Texas school police officer Adrian Gonzales, 52, was found “not guilty” of 29 counts of child endangerment and abandonment charges stemming from his actions during the Robb Elementary school shooting in 2022.
The shooting was one of the most deadly school shootings in recent history, leaving 19 students and two teachers dead. Parents of slain students have argued that police did not do enough to stop the gunman that day, and have sought to prosecute officers like Gonzalez who were involved.
The jury took more than seven hours to deliberate the case, according to reports.
Another trial against the Uvalde police chief is expected to commence next week.
