Ashton Kutcher gives insight into ‘psychological challenge’ of villainous role for ‘The Beauty’

Ashton Kutcher talked to Page Six about playing the bad guy in the new Ryan Murphy show, “The Beauty.”

“It’s really fun,” the actor told us at the New York City premiere of his new series earlier this week.

Kutcher plays Byron Forst, a tech billionaire tied to “the Beauty,” a sexually transmitted treatment that grants users beauty but unfortunately has some rather nasty side effects.

“I learned a long time ago you can’t judge your character and so you have to figure out how to justify why that person’s doing what they’re doing,” the “That ’70s Show” star explained about Forst’s nefarious nature.

“And the sort of psychological challenge of figuring out how to justify these behaviors was a really fun thing to do.”

The “Two and a Half Men” star, 47, went on to note that his character is like many immoral people.

Kutcher says he learned a long time ago that you can’t ” judge your character.”

“Like, he’s doing these things, but you can tell that he doesn’t even think that there’s anything wrong with them,” he explained, “which is [like] most people who do horrible things, [they] probably have that sensibility.”

Kutcher, who got his start as a model, noted that society’s obsession with appearances and cosmetic surgery has changed dramatically in the last few years.

“Now you have, like Sephora and Ulta targeting teenagers and kids who have perfect skin but want to look … and I think that’s our world, right?” he opined.

He also bemoaned the negative influence of social media on today’s society, saying, “I think everyone’s living online and everyone’s living in public and everyone’s taking judgment from people that don’t even know them, don’t know what they’re going through, don’t know what they’re thinking.

“It’s like going to junior high school, never leaving,” he added. “I think it’s a lot more attention on it today than deserving.”

Other celebs at the starry premierewere Kutcher’s “Beauty” costars: Isabella Rossellini, Jeremy Pope, Bella Hadid, Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos and Rebecca Hall.

“The Beauty” premieres Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on FX.
