Dem strategist Grant Stern unloaded on Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) Saturday over his frequent and “odd” fixation with whether men can become pregnant, citing a recent exchange between the senator and an obstetrician-gynecologist.
Appearing on Newsmax, Stern was asked to respond to a clip of Hawley recorded this week during a Senate committee hearing where the senator repeatedly asked a medical expert whether men could become pregnant. To the apparent dismay of Newsmax host Tom Basile, Stern took a brutal dig at Hawley over his behavior during the 2021 Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
“It’s an odd choice [of discussion] because Josh Hawley ran away from the Jan. 6 insurrection like he was a pregnant man really worried about his safety!” Stern quipped.
“Wait, no, no, answer my question!” shouted Basile, interrupting Stern’s remarks. “Don’t bring up Jan. 6, answer my question!”
Stern fired back, characterizing talks around whether men can get pregnant as a distraction to Trump’s newly announced “Great American Health Care Plan,” which he revealed this week as an alternative to extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, which Republicans allowed to expire this month, resulting in health care costs more than doubling for millions of Americans.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I was just discussing the senator here who’s trying to give people science lessons. The reality is, how does this discussion advance the health care debate?” Stern questioned.
“We’re talking about the Great American Health Care Plan that just got released, and all that is is just reversing the executive order that Trump did last year that took away all of the drug cost reductions, so I don’t know if there’s gonna be any pregnant men in America because most people can’t get health care, including transgender people, but every American is really struggling with health care right now.”
