MDMA and steamy texts alleged as ex-senator sued over tryst with bodyguard

A former lawmaker was accused of sending sexual text messages, using MDMA and having sex with her former bodyguard in a lawsuit filed against her for alienation of affection, according to reports Thursday.

The lawsuit was filed by Heather Ammel, Matthew Ammel’s wife, who alleged in a lawsuit filed in North Carolina that former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) sent her husband photos of herself wrapped in a towel and recommended via Signal message that he bring MDMA on a work trip to “guide him through a psychedelic experience,” The Daily Beast reported. The ex-bodyguard’s wife also alleges Sinema was “was having sexual relations with other security members.”

The alienation of affection lawsuit falls under “a controversial North Carolina law that allows a person to be held liable for malicious interference in a marriage,” The Beast reported.

Heather also claimed in the allegations that Sinema told her husband she could “help him” overcome his mental health challenges after his U.S. Army service.

Sinema served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2018, where she became known for her independent streak and willingness to break from her party on key votes. During her time in the Senate, Sinema gained prominence for her pivotal role in negotiations on major legislation including the infrastructure bill and voting rights measures, though she faced significant backlash from progressive Democrats over her opposition to eliminating the filibuster and her moderate positioning on various issues, ultimately deciding not to seek re-election in 2024 after switching her party affiliation to independent.
