Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.
‘A New National Bird’
President Trump visited a Ford factory in Detroit on Tuesday where he appeared to swear and flipped his middle finger at an auto worker who called him a “pedophile protector.”
“That’s a new one. The president of the United States publicly F-bombs and then flips somebody off,” Stephen Colbert said on Wednesday’s “Late Show.”
“Apparently, Trump has designated a new national bird.” — STEPHEN COLBERT
“You got to hand it to that auto worker for getting under Trump’s skin like compound butter on a Thanksgiving turkey.” — STEPHEN COLBERT
“He could’ve shouted ‘pedophile,’ but until the full Epstein files are released, that’s just an unverified claim, whereas ‘pedophile protector’ is fairly in evidence at this point. And that’s the kind of attention to detail you can expect in your F-150.” — STEPHEN COLBERT
“We were told that there would be Epstein files. In fact, you signed a law mandating that you would have to release the Epstein files by the middle of last month, but you still haven’t. It kind of makes you seem like a, what’s the phrase? [yells] Pedophile protector!” — STEPHEN COLBERT
“Yelling something true at Donald Trump isn’t the worst thing that’s happened at a Ford plant. That would be the Pinto.” — STEPHEN COLBERT
The Punchiest Punchlines (‘The Melania Salute’ Edition)
“Yesterday, Trump was touring a factory in Michigan when a worker heckled him, and Trump responded by flipping him the bird — or as that’s also known, the Melania salute.” — JIMMY FALLON
“That’s right, President Trump gave a heckler the middle finger and appeared to mouth ‘[expletive] you’ to the man. Wow. I’ve never seen him be so crude and so disrespectful to a man.” — SETH MEYERS
“Whoa, Mr. President. You can’t flip off a citizen that way — not with your delicate hands. They’ll be bruised for weeks.” — JORDAN KLEPPER
“I don’t know why Trump’s so upset. I mean, he could have called you a pedophile, but he kept it to ‘pedophile protector’ out of respect for the office. And for all we know, that guy could have been a pedophile, requesting pedophile protection: ‘Help me, help me, I know that’s your thing. Redact me the [expletive] out of here, Mr. President, please!’” — JORDAN KLEPPER
