‘He is thirsting’: Trump’s niece reveals what’s driving her uncle’s ‘desperate’ moves

President Donald Trump’s niece revealed on Tuesday what is driving her uncle’s recent spate of “desperate moves.”

Mary Trump, an author and psychologist, argued in a new Substack essay that the president’s recent moves to threaten Greenland, take military action against Venezuela, and threaten a series of other countries are “desperate” on their face, but also reveal something deeply disturbing about her uncle’s personality. She added that elected officials have a duty to “stop the madness” before it’s too late.

“He is thirsting to take over the Americas, to encroach on the sovereignty of other territories like Greenland,” Mary Trump wrote. “He is desperate to increase his power, because no amount of power can assuage his sense of inadequacy.”

Mary Trump has written and spoken extensively about her uncle’s mental state. She wrote that what has surprised her the most is that there has been “no effective pushback” to any of President Trump’s legally dubious actions, like bombing alleged drug boats in international waters without Congressional approval.

“The fact that there has been no effective pushback against his illegal strikes on boats in the Caribbean or his illegal military action against Venezuela has only empowered him further and added fuel to the fire of his boundless ambition,” Mary Trump wrote. “Every elected official in this country, from both parties, has to pledge to put a stop to the madness that is Donald Trump. I’m not sure how much more evidence they need that it is time.”
