Dem upends Jim Jordan’s hearing to unload on ‘Cruella Noem’ for ‘unjustified’ killing

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) used a House Judiciary Committee hearing to denounce the “unjustified homicide” of Renee Good at the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer Jonathan Ross.

During the Tuesday hearing, Cohen urged Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) to focus on the killing of Good instead of allegations of fraud in Minnesota’s Somali community.

“This was an unbelievably, clearly unjustified homicide,” Cohen said of Good, “that the administration immediately jumped on to defend the officer, but just not only defending the officer, but blaspheming the lady, Ms. Good, whose name was appropriately chosen. She was a good lady. She did nothing wrong.”

According to Cohen, Good had “every right” not to open her car door when the ICE officer asked.

“And when she drove off, the man in front of her who shouldn’t have been there, that was insane, he was responding to her wife who had said, dude, why don’t you go get lunch?” the lawmaker noted. “He didn’t like that. So he decided to shoot. He had his gun out almost before she started to drive forward.”

“And it was clear she was turning to the right. This was an unjustified homicide in our country that we’ve all seen,” he continued. “And the administration jumps in and says, we’re going to attack this woman and call her a domestic terrorist. She’s a victim who is not with us anymore.”

“And we’ve seen our president, our vice president, and Cruella [Kristi] Noem go after her as if she were some type of domestic terrorist. They’ve attacked her before her body’s in the ground. This is cruel, it’s the wrong picture of our government, and not the way our government should be.”

Cohen blasted the administration for failing to relieve Ross from duty while an investigation was conducted.

Ross was “walking like he was in the Olympics” after the shooting, Cohen observed. “He had no problem walking.”

“We need to investigate it, and we need to see what’s going on,” the Tennessee Democrat told Jordan.
