A BravoCon Recap, Plus 6 Things to Watch on TV This Week

Between streaming and cable, viewers have a seemingly endless variety of things to watch. Here is a selection of TV shows and specials that are airing or streaming this week, Nov. 17-23. Details and times are subject to change.

Live from Las Vegas.

This past weekend, Bravo hosted BravoCon, its annual convention (they skipped 2024) in Las Vegas. And if you weren’t able to attend, you didn’t miss out entirely. This week the network, through its streamer, Peacock, is airing some of the convention’s panels, “Watch What Happens Live” episodes and other shenanigans that went down with the countless Bravolebrities in attendance.

Have you ever wondered what an awards show would look like if it featured housewives instead of actors? Well, at the Bravos, streaming on Monday, Andy Cohen will hand out prizes including the coveted Wifetime Achievement Award.

On Wednesday, you can take a walk down memory lane with BravoCon’s “The Reading Room” panel, which celebrates 20 years of “The Real Housewives” and provides an overview of the franchise’s history.

Also, we are officially in the holiday season, and what better way to celebrate than hearing some reality stars sing, sneaking a peek at some Bravo-related gifts and seeing surprise guests? “Bravo’s Holiday Spectacular” streams on Friday.

Finally, Cohen will recap the entire weekend on Sunday night, sharing highlights and favorite moments during “BravoCon All Access With Andy Cohen.”

A celebration of music in Nashville.

It’s time to celebrate all things country music at this year’s CMA Awards. Lainey Wilson is returning to host the 59th annual show, and Kelsea Ballerini, Brandi Carlile, Shaboozey, Luke Combs and many others are set to perform. Airing from Nashville, awards for entertainer of the year, best album, female and male vocalist and more will be handed out live. Wednesday at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Living off the land in upstate New York.

Upstate New York is a popular wedding destination, and Matt Baumgartner, the owner of June Farms, is determined to turn his farm into a sought-after event space in the Hudson Valley. A new reality show, aptly named “June Farms,” follows Baumgartner and his staff during their day-to-day operations, whether it be setting up for a wedding or managing the animals that live there. Streaming Monday on Prime Video.

A couple of documentaries.

Before Selena Quintanilla was selling out stadiums, she and her family band, Los Dinos, performed at quinceañeras. In the 23 years she lived — she was fatally shot by a fan in 1995 — Selena was called the “queen of Tejano music” and, according to The New York Times, was “arguably the most important Latina musician in the country, on her way to becoming one of the most important, period.” In the new feature-length documentary “Selena y Los Dinos,” Quintanilla’s family members, husband and bandmates narrate her rise to fame, share home videos and discuss her legacy. Streaming Monday on Netflix.

News of school shootings has become an unfortunate part of the media landscape in the United States. The documentary “Thoughts & Prayers” focuses not on the shootings themselves, but on what it is like in classrooms around the country where children are trained on what to do in an active shooter situation. Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit that advocates gun-violence prevention, recently released a report urging decision makers to reconsider active-shooter drills given the lack of proven benefit and possible related mental distress. The film premiered at DOC NYC, and features commentary from school administrators in New York, Utah and Oregon, as well as from experts on safety trainings. Tuesday at 9 p.m. on HBO and streaming on HBO Max.

In September 2016, Linda Carman, 54, and her son Nathan, 22, went missing during an overnight fishing trip. Eight days later, after a friend had reported them missing and the Coast Guard had been searching, Nathan was spotted drifting on a raft, but Linda was never found. A police investigation raised questions about whether Linda’s disappearance was a tragic accident or something more malicious, and suspicion of Nathan’s involvement mounted. What’s more, Nathan had also been the last person to see his grandfather before he was murdered years earlier. The feature-length documentary “The Carman Family Deaths” includes interviews with family members, the police and journalists. Streaming Wednesday on Netflix.

And, finally, a scripted show returns.

Loosely based on the 2020 Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent,” the first season of “A Man on the Inside” starred Ted Danson as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired professor who is hired to go undercover at a retirement home. In the new season, all of which releases this week, Charles is headed to his daughter’s alma mater, Wheeler College, posing as an engineering professor to figure out who is blackmailing the school’s president (played by Max Greenfield). Streaming Thursday on Netflix.

Shivani Gonzalez is a news assistant at The Times who writes a weekly TV column and contributes to a variety of sections.
