Tri-state sports fans are renowned for their loyalty and passion and the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s (PWHL) New York Sirens are quickly building a fanbase that embodies this energy with a vibrant, positive twist. The atmosphere at a Sirens game is electric, reflecting the genuine enthusiasm of a community united by a deep love for the game and their team.

Playing at the world-class Prudential Center, the same arena that hosts the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the New York Sirens are creating an atmosphere that feels lively, welcoming, and unmistakably fun. A game environment where intensity meets joy and fans feel part of something special.

A new hockey culture: welcoming and inclusive

The moment you step onto the concourse at “The Rock,” the authentic family entertainment begins. With interactive Kids Club activations in the Kids Zone to a sea of creative signs in the stands, the energy at New York Sirens games is contagious. Fans are eager to join in on the iconic “Wee woo” chant that perfectly punctuates the “Let’s go, Sirens” cheer.

The team also offers excellent group and fan experiences for parties of all sizes. From player meet and greets to between-period Zamboni rides, there are unforgettable game-day opportunities for youth groups, athletic teams, corporate outings and more. For parents, coaches, and organizers, it is rare to find a pro sports environment where kids can be loud, excited and fully themselves without worrying about what they might hear from the row behind them. This welcoming atmosphere has naturally fostered an organic fan community, epitomized by a group known as the “Pizza Rats.”

A fandom built on lasting bonds: the Pizza Rats

The “Pizza Rats” formed quickly at the beginning of the Sirens’ inaugural season, becoming an integral and highly visible part of the fanbase. The Pizza Rats eagerly gather together in Section 14 of the Prudential Center for every home game. Originally started by a father and his children, the group has expanded to include people of all ages and backgrounds, unified by their love for the Sirens and their playful homage to New York’s most iconic rodent.

Their energy is infectious, bringing a coordinated level of cheering and handmade signs that embody the inclusive, community-driven spirit the Sirens aim to cultivate. What makes their story particularly meaningful is how the team and the game served as the foundation for a true, lasting community. These fans were strangers until the New York Sirens brought them together.

This connection was put to a heartwarming test through one of the group’s original members, Trish. After having her baby earlier than expected, she was unable to attend the final stretch of home games. The rest of the Pizza Rats rallied around her in a beautiful, unexpected show of support. They worked hard to make sure she felt included while she was away, taking her baby’s pictures with them to games and having players write notes dedicated to her new family. The New York Sirens are bringing fans together and helping to build strong, lasting bonds in the stands and beyond.

A rising class of elite hockey talent: the next generation of stars

While the fan culture and atmosphere are key to the full Sirens experience, the action on the ice is fast, physical, and competitive. The New York Sirens boast a young, talented roster full of promising stars in a league filled with the best players in the world. This includes the 2025 Rookie of the Year and co-league-leading scorer, Sarah Fillier, who attended college just down the road at Princeton. The team also secured two 2025 first-round picks: the No. 1 overall pick, Kristýna Kaltounková, and the No. 3 pick, Casey O’Brien. O’Brien is a true local, having spent her early years in Manhattan, and remains a massive New York sports fan.

If you have ever wanted to fall in love with a team and the people sitting next to you, this is the best ticketin town. Get ready for a new kind of family game night and purchase your tickets for the 2025-2026 season now.
