Nikki Glaser’s CBS news jab at Golden Globes was not approved by bosses

Globes Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser didn’t run her controversial CBS News jibe past the division bosses, sources tell Page Six.

Glaser, 41, made a dig at the network that hosts the awards bashsaying, “The award for most editing goes to CBS News. Yes. CBS news: America’s newest place to see-BS-news.”

The joke was met by loud laughter from the A-list, super liberal crowd.

The comic dig on Sunday night came after a turbulent few weeks for newly installed CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, who hit the headlines after killing a “60 Minutes” segmentabout the US sending deportees to a prison in El Salvador — causing uproar among the staff.

However, we’re told news is an separate entity to the entertainment section and Weiss is expected to shrug off the dig and “move on”.

“The news division is fully separate,” said an industry insider, confirming Glaser did not have to check her monologue with bosses.

“Let’s move on,” the insider added.

CBS News was previously accused by President Donald Trump of editing an interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris to provide a better image of the Democratic candidate in the months leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

Trump sued the network after accusing them of “election interference” in favor of Harris. CBS’ parent company later agreed to a $16 million settlement with Trumpahead of its merger with Skydance Media.

Weiss was put in place by Skydance owner David Ellison, who also bought her website, The Free Press, last October for $150 million.

Since landing in the hot seat, she has handpicked Tony Dokoupil to helm the “CBS Evening News”. However, the former “CBS Mornings” co-host suffered an embarrassing start to his tenure with tech glitches during his first show last week. Despite this, he still reeled in 4.4 million viewersduring his debut last Monday, more than half a million more eyeballs than usual for that time slot.

His news-making interview with border czar Tom Homan was then overshadowed by the firing of Javier Guzman, one of the show’s top producers. Guzman reportedly made no secret of his dislike of Weiss.

Although Glaser mocked CBS News, the CBS Network and its parent company Paramount aired the Globes, with the ceremony also streaming on Paramount+

Ellison is currently waging a hostile takeover of Warner Bros. in an attempt to scupper Netflix’s bid to buy the company.

As Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav watched from the crowd, Glaser also joked while hosting, “We’ll start the bidding for Warner Bros. at $5, do I hear $5?”
