How to Watch the Golden Globes 2026: Date, Time and Streaming

It’s that glamorous time of the year, when Hollywood stars turn out to walk carpets in head-turning outfits, make the rounds on talk shows and even fly blimps to drum up awareness of their movies, all in the hope of grabbing a coveted Oscar statuette in March.

One way to do that? Take home an armful of awards at early-in-the-year ceremonies, like the Golden Globes on Sunday.

The top two categories appear to be largely settled this year, with the Leonardo DiCaprio-led epic “One Battle After Another” having the inside track for best musical or comedy, and the Shakespeare drama “Hamnet” the favorite in drama. But “Sinners,” Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror film, could play spoiler on the drama side, and don’t rule out Josh Safdie’s screwball table-tennis comedy “Marty Supreme,” whose star, Timothée Chalamet, has embarked on a madcap press tour.

On the television side, it looks to be a year of newcomers, with the Noah Wyle-led medical drama “The Pitt” and Seth Rogen’s Hollywood satire “The Studio” favored to repeat their Emmy wins. For the first time — in recognition of its growth as a visual medium — there is also a podcast category, though it has been the subject of controversy.

Here’s everything you need to know about — and where — to watch.

What time does the show start, and where can I watch?

The ceremony begins at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. CBS is the official broadcaster.

Online, you can watch live on the CBS app. (You’ll need the credentials from your cable provider to sign in.) The show will also stream on Paramount+, but only subscribers who have a premium Paramount+ plan will be able to watch live. For those who do not, the ceremony can be streamed beginning Monday on Paramount+.

Some good news: Paramount+ offers seven-day free trials for new subscribers. Just remember to cancel your subscription before the end of the week to avoid being charged.

A number of live TV streaming services also offer access to CBS, including Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV and FuboTV, all of which require subscriptions, though many are offering free trials.

Is there a red carpet?

Entertainment Tonight will stream red carpet arrivals beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 p.m. Pacific as part of its “Live From E!: Golden Globes” preshow. Variety will also have live red carpet coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. Eastern, 3:30 p.m. Pacific. Both shows will be available on their websites and social media platforms, as well as Peacock for the Entertainment Tonight show and Fire TV for Variety.

The big question: Will Timothée Chalamet be wearing “Marty Supreme” orange?

Who is the host?

The comedian and actress Nikki Glaser, who last year became the ceremony’s first solo female host, is back for an encore after a well-reviewed turn.

Who is presenting?

The lineup of actors, comedians and musicians who will hand out awards includes the “Heated Rivalry” stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, Amanda Seyfried, Charli XCX, Colman Domingo, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Kevin Hart, Miley Cyrus, Pamela Anderson and Snoop Dogg.

Who votes on the awards?

A group of more than 300 entertainment journalists from 85 countries is responsible for selecting nominees and winners. The voting body is both much larger and more diverse than its predecessor, the approximately 80-person, overwhelmingly white Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which was dissolved in 2023 after a series of scandals. Now Penske Media Eldridge owns the Globes.

Unlike the Oscars, which last year began requiring voters to attest that they had watched all nominees in a category in order to vote, the Globes have no such rule.

What’s new this year?

For the first time, audio efforts are being recognized in a new category: best podcast. The six nominees aren’t separated by genre, which means entertainment programming like the celebrity chat show “Good Hang With Amy Poehler” is competing against NPR’s daily news program “Up First,” among other contenders.

The category has spawned a few controversies: Though podcasts popular with right-leaning audiences, like “The Joe Rogan Experience” and “The Tucker Carlson Show,” qualified under the new category rules, none of them made the final cut. (Luminate, the Penske Media Corp.-owned audio data analytics firm, determined the eligible podcasts based on statistics like downloads and revenue.) Penske also offered to charge podcasts on the short list as much as $75,000 each for “for your consideration” marketing packages to take part in the awards.

Who is nominated?

Among films, “One Battle After Another” leads the pack with nine nominations, including best comedy or musical, followed by Joachim Trier’s soulful Norwegian drama “Sentimental Value” (eight), “Sinners” (seven) and “Hamnet” (six).

On the TV side, Season 3 of HBO’s one-percenter satire “The White Lotus” is in front with six nominations. It’s followed by “Adolescence,” the Netflix mini-series about a 13-year-old killer, which picked up five nominations after dominating the limited series category at the Emmy Awards in September.

In the film acting categories, which are split into musical-comedy and drama races, Rose Byrne, who plays a stressed-out mother in the jaggedly comedic maternal drama “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” and Chalamet of “Marty Supreme” are among the favorites in the comedy categories. Wagner Moura of the Brazilian political thriller “The Secret Agent” and Jessie Buckley of “Hamnet” and are among the front-runners in the drama races.

Wait, ‘One Battle After Another’ is a comedy?

Yes. Studios and distributors choose to submit their movies in either the drama or musical-comedy categories. And “One Battle After Another,” an epic that is both a political thriller and a dark comedy, chose to go the comedy route.

Who are the lifetime achievement honorees?

For a second year, the Globes’ two lifetime achievement honors, the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett awards, which honor contributions to entertainment and television, won’t be handed out live at the main ceremony. Instead, the honorees, the actors Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker, were recognized at a separate ceremony on Thursday evening in a “Golden Eve” special that is available on Paramount+.

What should you watch for?

It’s likely that Chalamet will take home his first Globe, for best actor in a musical or comedy. Moura of “The Secret Agent” could take best actor in a drama, positioning him for a showdown with Chalamet in March at the Oscars, which does not break out its lead acting categories by genre.

It’s looking like Emmys redux on the TV side, with big nights probably in store for “The Pitt” (drama), “The Studio” (comedy) and “Adolescence” (limited series). A high point could be if the 16-year-old British actor Owen Cooper repeats his Emmys win for best supporting actor in a limited series for his performance as a teenage murder suspect; his moving, unaffected acceptance speech from that September ceremony went viral.

For musical fans, Amanda Seyfried, who stars as the titular founder of the Shakers in “The Testament of Ann Lee,” and Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda the Good Witch in “Wicked: For Good,” may have the best shots in the lead and supporting actress in a musical or comedy categories. And if you just want to hear “Golden,” the inescapable earworm from Netflix’s megahit film “KPop Demon Hunters”? It’s the runaway favorite to win best original song.

Can you buy Golden Globes tickets?

Officially, no. But unaffiliated luxury packages have cropped up online that promise after-party and red carpet access — in one case, even custom tuxes — for a cool $70,000 per couple.

What’s in the gift bags given to winners and presenters?

The official gift bags for this year’s ceremony are valued at almost $1 million. Among the goodies: a five-day luxury yacht charter throughout the Coral Triangle in Indonesia, a stay at a luxury underwater villa in the Maldives, and nine bottles of French wine.

Are the Globes actually golden?

No, the statuettes aren’t solid gold; they’re made of a zinc alloy and brass, which is plated with 24-karat gold on a marble base. So if a celebrity drops it — like Taylor Swift did one of her four Grammys in 2010 — there’s no need to fret. (Yes, the Grammys, too, are made of a zinc alloy — a secret trademark blend called Grammium.)
