When touring British rocker Yungblud stripped totally naked on board a luxury yacht in Sydney Harbor, he was in good company: also aboard the yacht was a Sydney socialite and artist whose erotic self-portraits have earned her the unofficial job title of “nude artist.”
Dina Broadhurst was on board the yacht with her on-again, off-again beau, Appliances Online millionaire John Winning.
Broadhurst, 50, has been a fixture on Sydney’s social scene for decades, and has grown a huge following — 363,000 Instagram followers and counting — for her striking artworks.
She blends collage and found images with photography — often of her own naked body, leading to that “nude artist” moniker when the press reports on her exploits.
In a recent interview with Stellar, Broadhurst said the phrase doesn’t sit well with her.
“I hate any label,” she said in the rare August sit-down.
“I don’t mind the attention, but it’s quite a lot for [other people] to take on. I’m very comfortable with it. But I try to take some privacy because it interferes with my personal life.”
“It’s confronting for a lot of people. And it was hard for me to understand that at first.”
Broadhurst celebrated her milestone 50th birthday in September, and told Stellar she felt that age was “just a number.”
“I feel the best I’ve ever felt,” she said.
“People might be like, ‘She’s old.’ Yeah, I am old. But it’s just so ridiculous the way people comment on my looks at my age.”
“I feel proud of how I look. It’s very noticeable from late 40s onwards how fast and how different things happen so quickly, and the amount of work you have to do to keep up with everything.”
Aside from her love life — she and Winning split in January last year, but were then seen together on numerous occasions before Broadhurst confirmed they’d rekindled their relationship — and her attention-grabbing artworks, Broadhurst’s also generated media coverage for some of her big money moves.
In August last year, she sold the Darling Point apartment she owned with ex-partner Max Shepard for an eye-watering $8 million.
A huge sum, but it was a significant drop from the initial $11.5 million price guide for the expansive harbourside pad.
The former couple had bought the home in March 2022 for $5.2 million, gutting the interior and carrying out an extensive renovation.
Meanwhile, it seems Broadhurst’s blossoming friendship with rocker Yungblud continued after their headline-making yacht exploits: she watched his concert at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday night from a VIP section at the side of the stage.
