‘Are you insane?’ Backlash explodes as Vance declares ICE video proves he’s right

Vice President JD Vance immediately triggered outrage this week by falsely claiming that a Minneapolis mother of three shot dead by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was a far-left radical who had tried to run him down, and that the officer has “absolute immunity” for any killing done while wearing the uniform.

But a new video emerged on Friday that makes the whole thing appear even worse, appearing to show that Renee Nicole Good was not threatening the agents and not even looking at Jonathan Ross as she tried to turn the car to exit the situation before he opened fire.

Vance, however, took to X to adamantly insist the new footage actually proves him right.

“Watch this, as hard as it is,” he wrote. “Many of you have been told this law enforcement officer wasn’t hit by a car, wasn’t being harassed, and murdered an innocent woman. The reality is that his life was endangered and he fired in self defense.”

His comment was promptly flooded with furious responses from people who pointed out that the video doesn’t support this claim.

“You watched this and that’s your conclusion?” wrote progressive reporter Ryan Grim. “He shot her twice through her side window. How was he in danger? I think you’re starting to realize you may have ruined yourself over this.”

“Yeah, the woman who says ‘I’m not mad at you,’ then, twenty seconds later, is bleeding out next to her kids’ stuffed animals while ICE agents call her a ‘f—— b—-,’ is clearly at fault here,” wrote Project Liberal’s Joshua Reed Eakle. “Your soul is black.”

“His life was in danger by the woman who said ‘I’m not mad at you’ and who was clearly steering her vehicle away from him as he recorded her with his smart phone?” wrote podcaster Ed Krassenstein. “Are you insane or just a really bad liar?” He added, “This video does not show him getting hit by the car. It just shows his phone banging up against his uniform. He was recording with his smart phone. Stop misleading the public.”

Jon Favreau, podcaster and speechwriter to former President Barack Obama, meanwhile, raked Vance over the coals.

“1. He wasn’t hit by a car, which we believe because we have eyes; 2. I didn’t realize ‘hey dude I’m not mad at you’ is harassment that warrants a death sentence; 3. He killed an innocent woman; 4. Shooting her in the face did nothing to protect him. Stepping out of the way did,” he wrote.

“Why even mention her ‘harassing’ him? Is that exoneration for murder?” wrote investigative reporter Jacqueline Sweet. “That’s quite revealing to add as it’s completely irrelevant to whether or not his shooting was legally justified.”
