Marjorie Taylor Greene suggests ally could be pressuring Trump to block Epstein files

A nervous-looking Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took to CNN Sunday for her first interview since her falling out with President Donald Trump and strongly suggested that the Israeli government may be “pushing to keep” files on Jeffrey Epstein “covered up.”

Greene was asked by CNN’s Dana Bash about a social media post she had shared on Saturday in which she alleged that lobbying from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, was the reason Trump had attacked her, and openly questioned “what country is putting so much pressure on him.”

“I think it’s a question that many Americans are asking, especially when we saw information recently come out in these emails that the Oversight Committee – that I serve on – has released,” Greene said.

“We saw Jeffrey Epstein with ties to [former Israeli Prime Minister] Ehud Barak, we saw him making business deals with them, also business deals that involved the Israeli government and seems to have led into their intel agencies. I think the right question to ask is was Jeffrey Epstein working for Israel?”

Bash moved to have Greene go on record with what she was implying.

“I just want to be clear,” Bash said. “Are you saying Israel is pushing the president of the United States to cover up the Epstein files? And what evidence do you have that that is the case?”

A flustered Greene refuted Bash’s characterization of her comments, before ultimately backtracking and suggesting that she was, in fact, implying that the Israeli government was pressuring Trump on keeping files on Epstein “covered up.”

“No, I simply – no, I simply asked – no, I simply just asked out loud is there a foreign government – it could be any foreign government – but is a foreign government pushing to keep this covered up?” Greene said.

“Well, you had AIPAC up there, it’s pretty clear which government you were talking about,” Bash noted.

“I’m questioning that government in particular, and questioning any other foreign government,” Greene clarified.

Recent email leaks have suggested that Epstein did, in fact, do extensive work on behalf of the Israeli government. A recent report from Drop Site News revealed that Epstein had helped broker a defense agreement between the West African nation Côte d’Ivoire and Israel, a revelation uncovered from recently leaked emails of Barak’s.

Epstein had also helped establish a backchannel for Israel to communicate with Russia amid the Syrian Civil War, and helped broker a security cooperation agreement between Mongolia and Israel, according to reporting from Drop Site News.
