Donald Trump made a claim about elections in his latest interview that caused the internet to question his mental integrity.
Trump late Thursday night sat down for an interview with Fox News, during which Sean Hannity asked the president whether or not he foresees Venezuela with free and fair elections in the near future.
In what some have called a telling moment, Trump claimed that Venezuela “wouldn’t know how to have an election,” despite them having one very recently.
“Before we do that, it’s going to take a while. They wouldn’t even know how to have an election. We’re going to rebuild the oil—the oil infrastructure. We’re going to be in charge of it. We’re going to make a lot of money,” he said.
This didn’t sit well with political observers on social media.
Veteran Frank C responded with, “His dementia is acting up again. This fool has lost his f—— mind. He’s literally out here planning how to run Venezuela’s oil and economy like he’s the Supreme Leader instead of a president and now people are supposed to take this hissy‑fit strategist seriously? lol no.”
Ex-prosecutor Ron Filipkowski asked Friday morning, “Can we hear from Rick Scott and the south FL Republican members of Congress on this today?”
Activist and blogger Matthew J Shochat had two simple points: “1) They had one last year. 2) The people you are working with there were the cheaters in that election.”
Popular political analyst WarMonitor replied with, “Sounds like Trump wants to run the country himself, replacing one dictatorship with another.”
Former foreign correspondent Roland Ley said, “Not liberation, US colonization.”
Former Navy wife Rebecca Clester chimed in with, “They wouldn’t know how to have an election?”
“What closet has Trump been living in? Do you honestly think they will have fair elections when all Trump did was replace Maduro w/ a Maduro loyalist?” she asked on X. “He made his priority perfectly clear to EXTORT OIL, OIL & MORE OIL. He’s a CRIMINAL.”
