A self-described “right-leaning” witness to the deadly shooting in Minneapolis on Tuesday was left aghast by what he saw out of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
An ICE officer shot and killed a 37-year-old woman who was turning her car around after driving up on an immigration raid, according to Minnesota Public Radio. Video posted online shows the driver trying to wave a couple of unmarked ICE vehicles by before agents approached the car with weapons drawn. The woman tried to drive away and was shot three or four times from a close distance, according to the report. The woman, who is a U.S. citizen, died in the vehicle.
After the incident occurred, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the agents acted in “self-defense.”
Brandon Hewitt, a witness who lives near where the shooting occurred, spoke with MS NOW on “Chris Jansing Reports” on Tuesday shortly after the deadly shooting.
“Around 8:30 this morning, I was just getting up, and I heard a bunch of commotion and whistling outside, and then I heard bang, bang, bang, three shots,” Hewitt said. “I went to look out the window, and it looked like there was a Honda over there that crashed. And I found out it was an observer who got shot and killed … I got a bunch of video of them carrying the body to the ambulance and stuff.”
“I’m pretty right-leaning, but seeing this, this is not what you need to do,” he continued. “This is not how to do it. It’s not how we’re supposed to do things around here in America.”
