Fox News host gets brutal fact-check to her face courtesy of top Dem

A Democrat in the House of Representatives brutally fact-checked a Fox News host on Monday during an interview that touched on the Trump administration’s justification for invading Venezuela.

The invasion of Venezuela on Saturday morning and subsequent capture of its dictatorial leader, Nicolas Maduro, has sparked considerable debate about the threat the country poses to the U.S. Some Republicans have said the move was justified because of Maduro’s long history of supporting drug operations in the country, and pointed to his indictment on narco-terrorism and weapons charges as proof.

Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) forcefully pushed back on that assertion on Fox News’s “The Story” with Martha MacCallum on Monday.

“We have about 100,000 Americans dying each year because of drugs, most of those come from Venezuela, and Colombia certainly as well,” MacCallum said, in defense of Trump’s operation.

“That’s actually not true,” Crow pushed back.

“It’s not true that there are hundreds of thousands of American deaths from drugs?” MacCallum asked pointedly.

“No. The majority of the deaths by drugs in America are the result of meth and fentanyl,” Crow said. “Almost none of that comes from Venezuela.”

The heated discussion happened at a time when President Donald Trump had threatened other foreign leaders that the U.S. could invade their countries and capture their leaders over the drug trade. Trump has told Mexico to “get its act together” over drug cartel activity. Trump has also threatened to arrest the Colombian president.
